SMH cooperated with Oregon Department of Agriculture (ODA) and ATO Shanghai to carry out the 2010 Oregon Wine & Fruit Trade Mission to Shanghai. Four wineries and three fruit producing companies from the region participated in the event. On the afternoon of March 11, one-on-one meetings for fruit companies with key local buyers were carried out at the Portman Ritz-Carlton Hotel, fostering the opportunities for market access and advancement in China. While for wineries a high-end wine showcase and tasting event was also held at the Portman. Top wines from each winery were introduced and received high recommendations from key wine buyers like ASC, Jointek. It was then followed by a dinner reception where Oregon wines were paired with the courses featuring fruit products from the region. Mr. Patrick Mayer from ODA and Mr. Wayne Batwin, Director of ATO Shanghai both participated in the event and communicated with Oregon delegates as well as local buyers. The image of Oregon State as a supplier of superior wines and fruit products was successfully established.
